In The Middle - Jimmy Needham

This right here is why a girl should marry a singer/songwriter. Who else would write you a song. Forget everything else, I think it’s the best way to express your feelings. No other profession can beat this I promise you. You can take any example.. A doctor, let’s say.. The best thing he can do for you is give you free checkups ..if he’s a plastic surgeon he might give you free surgeries too (I guess depending on the girl she might prefer this than a song). What if he’s a lawyer.. What would he do? represent you in court when you’re convicted of murder? I tell you, go find yourself a guy with a guitar and a beautiful voice.

This by far is my favorite song from the record.. I’ve always loved how he always has some sort of love song in his albums. This one tops everything else.. There’s nothing better than knowing there’s someone who cares about you and feels your pain when you’re going through a hard time.

Favorite line

” In the middle of a cold dark night
In the middle it would be alright
I will be there, I will be there
And if pain is the ocean you are swimming in
If i can’t pull you out I’m diving in”

Modern Day Sexism

Girl Power. [Picture]. (n.d.). Retrieved on March 12, 2012 from NothernStar:http://www.northernsun.com/Girl-Power-Button-(0571).html

So I’m turning into a feminist by the day o.O. I never thought this day would come, but wow!! It’s like finding out that Santa Clause is real. Are you serious.. THAT THING EXISTS!?!?!?

So I went to an all girls school right? [ Yes I went to an all girls school till I finished High School]. And my friends, and most people I know, were brilliant. I mean like seriously bright people. And competition was never about gender. Cause everyone’s a girl right?!? So if you’re smart, you’re smart!! That’s it!! No other explanation needed.

I never had a brother. My dad was the only “Male” in our house. And when my younger cousins came over their numbers increased. But us girls, we were in control, I mean like we were FINE. If something needed to be done at home, we found a way to do it. If we had to lift up stuff, we lifted up stuff. If we needed to figure out the answer to this hard subject, we figured that out too. If something needed to be fixed, you guessed it, we FIXED IT!

Never once have I thought I couldn’t do something because I wasn’t a guy. I’m not saying I can do everything, but if I can’t do it, it’s probably due to a reason that has nothing to do with me being a girl.

So needless to say, I wasn’t really exposed to this gender inequality stuff. As far as I knew, and cared, I can do anything I set my mind to. My gender doesn’t even come into my mind when I plan my life.

Well college is way different. At first I thought everyone was nice, but then I started noticing stuff [ it actually took me a while, cause it was something so foreign to me], different thoughts in my mind.. When a guy holds the door: “what do you mean?? why are you not holding the door for the guy o.O” I mean I don’t mind having someone opening doors for me everywhere I go [those things are heavy] but I hope it’s not because you think I can’t open it myself.

When you know how to do stuff on the computer : “Oh you know how to do that?!?!” What do you mean?!? it’s not rocket science :/!! Like seriously how can a person ask “You can make power points?” with a surprised tone?

And they get surprised when you work hard to get good grades. I don’t know about you, but where I came from, we were serious about our grades. And we know our hard work pays off. I don’t know why everyone expects me to slack off and skip classes, go partying every weekend and go on a number of random dates. I can’t think of one good reason why you would think that I am not, or shouldn’t be, serious about school, my future and my life.

I specially hate group work with a bunch of guys. I seriously don’t regret not going to high school with guys. It’s annoying to see them just ASSUME they know better with their  oh-you-can’t-know-more-than-me, you’re-a-girl attitude. I hate it when they try to explain something so simple to me, dude get out of my face I know what it means!! [of course I don’t say that, I’m a girl, girls are nice.]

I obviously can’t write about everything. But I’m so surprised and amazed to see that people still don’t believe girls can perform as good as boys. I mean like with anything. I don’t like it when you treat me different than the guy right next to me, I don’t care if you’re trying to be nice, you can be equally nice to both of us. I don’t need any better treatment. I’m sure I can do as good a job, if not better, as the next guy. Don’t offer me help you won’t offer to another guy.

I’m not saying don’t be a gentleman [ those guys don’t exist anymore anyway so I guess it doesn’t really matter ha haa]. Be nice just because you want to be nice, not because I’m a girl. I, for instance, am nice to both girls and boys the same way. I’ll hold the door whether it’s a girl or a boy behind and offer help regardless of your gender.

Don’t just assume a girl is weak and less intelligent and someone who needs constant attention and guidance. Just bear in mind, we’re the ones who go into labor for hours and give birth to people like you o.O.

Healing: My Perspective

Most of you probably know that I’m a Christian. And I’m very serious about my faith. I love God, I believe in every word in the Bible. I don’t consider myself a bible scholar, even much of a theologian really. I just know what I know, and try to live as right as I can with all that’s been revealed to me and of course by God’s grace.

But I just can’t believe how insensitive some Christians can be. I mean it’s so sad to see how judgmental and narrow-minded some of  them are. There are a lot of judgmental and narrow-minded people everywhere, but when you start using God’s name and your religion as the reason.. that’s just taking it too far.

I was talking to my friend about healing tonight. I believe  in healing, Jesus healed a lot of people during his time, and I believe that it still happens and it’s one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

But what I also believe is that not EVERYONE gets healed. Not because of their lack of faith or because God can’t heal now. I don’t want to come off as insensitive and I don’t mean to discourage anyone. But the greatest gift we received from Jesus is eternal life, he came and died on the cross so that we can have that life and be saved from our sin. Anything above and beyond that is what we receive out of his goodness and blessing.

I know God promised a lot of things in the bible to his people, and like I said I believe all of itBut even if he doesn’t, he’s still God. I think we all need to analyze our priorities. Don’t go around judging people and try to come up with reasons as to why they’re not healed.

If being healed was mandatory, how do you explain all the Christians who died of diseases while still believing God, while their families prayed non stop for miracles? What about all the tears that were shed? What about all the mothers that wept for their kids? Are you saying all those lives were lost because they didn’t believe?!?! How can you, with the truth on your face, and God’s name on your lips, say that about people?? Who are you to judge their faith? This is RIDICULOUS, and I seriously get worked up about it.

How dare you belittle their pain? Do you think it’s easy to see your husband fade away in front of your eyes? Do you think it’s easy for a mother to bury her child?!? And a teenager to lose her mom?!? And you have the nerve to say that they didn’t get their healing because they lacked faith?!?

One thing I know, whatever God chooses to do, he’s right by doing so. Because God is righteous. You don’t dictate God, you don’t make him do things! And you most certainly don’t get to judge other people.

If you get your healing, good for you. But if you didn’t, that’s not the point of your salvation, it’s eternal life. And that’s the greatest gift of all.

:/

I need to update my tumblr .. I don’t know why I’m soo lazy.. hopefully tomorrow!!
